UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. It is crucial to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.
The top screw position, the lever and the keyhole size are the three measurements you have to check. Use the size guide to assistance with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be used on replacement or new doors. This type of door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to fit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shortened lever can also be used for doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb located on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm permit a bigger size of handle which can often be a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of their horizontal position when not in use.
When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size you will then need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions, allowing them to be put on either side of the doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It depends on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder while internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however if this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.
There are also cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found within the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the best solution to address this issue. It also stops your door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as one unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are a fantastic value for money way to fix the problem of your door handles that are sagging. These spring cassettes are simple to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door. For more information on our wide range of uPVC accessories and spares, you can get in touch with our team.
